Ectopic pregnancy in scar from previous cesarean section. Clinical case report

Ectopic gestation in a caesarean section scar is considered an unusual presentation of extrauterine pregnancy, with few cases reported in the literature. The frequency has been increasing, due to the significant increase in cesarean section rates worldwide. This type of ectopic pregnancy can cause various complications with greater severity as pregnancy progresses, so its early detection is paramount. We present the case of a young adult patient who went to an outpatient clinic for pelvic pain, positive HCG and scant vaginal bleeding. Transvaginal ultrasound demonstrated an ectopic pregnancy in uterine scar, after consultation with the patient, a conservative approach was chosen. The fundamental pillar in the success of this treatment was its diagnosis in an early gestation, and its adequate follow-up, thus avoiding potential complications.
