Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have been a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in Ecuador since the late 20th century. These conditions, which include hypertension, ischemic heart disease, and stroke, have posed a significant challenge to the country's public health system. Since the 1990s, Ecuador has experienced progress in the incidence, management, and prevention of these diseases, reflecting both changes in health patterns and advances in health policies.
